Urbino 10,5

New Urbino 10,5 is the shortest of all bus models in a new design. The compact 10.5-meter bus was built on the basis of 12-meter Solaris modules, but the vehicle has been shortened by 1.5 meters compared to the new Urbino 12, between the first door of and the second axle. What is of importance for operators is that in this new model the manufacturer has applied mostly the same elements of the side panels as in the 12-meter version. The modification of the construction to a shorter one required a reduction of the wheelbase from 5900 mm to 4450 mm, thanks to which the bus is more manoeuvrable. The small dimensions and the excellent turning radius make this bus an ideal solution for narrow, cramped streets of many old towns in Europe. The front and rear of the vehicle, however, have been left unchanged. The model showcased at the fair contains a vertically installed 209 horsepower Cummins ISB6.7E6C engine. Just like for the diesel Urbino 12, the manufacturer offers to install a DAF MX11 drive unit of either 210 or 240 kW. Both options comply with the restrictive emissions norm Euro 6. Power is transmitted to the rear axle ZF AV 132 by way of automatic transmission ZF 6 AP. Solaris offers also the option to choose a Voith Diwa6 gearbox. Shortened by one module and with a 2-2-2 door layout, the new Solaris sports 23 passenger seats, 8 of which are accessible from the low floor. When a 2-2-0 door layout is applied, the number of seats increases to 29. The fully low-floor bus offers a whole range of solutions with regard to the door location, which is very helpful when it comes to adjusting it to the traffic particularities of a given city. The relative spaciousness of the 10-meter Urbino makes it ideal for busier routes. Neither the driver’s compartment, nor the bus interior have been modified compared to the 12-meter version. The interior makes use of well-tried solutions that ease the travel by bus, such as eco-friendly LED lighting, efficient air conditioning or USB ports, located in railings, which allow passengers to recharge their phones.
